An hour east of Accra, up in the relative cool of forested highland country, are the Aburi Botanical Gardens,

  founded by William Crowther, a student from London’s Kew Gardens.

Today this delicate, crafted beauty is a rare example of colonial legacy being valued rather then rejected.
