 Kakum National Park

There are 400 different types of butterflies in Kakum National Park.

Flitting from one dappled leaf to another, the butterflies remain the largest, most colourful creatures you will see in Ghana.

Together with the neighbouring reserve covering 360km2 of what is largely rainforest, Kakum – only a couple hours from Accra – holds immense potential for the nature enthusiast.

Elephants, colobus monkeys and forest antelope (bongos and yellow – backed duiker) are to be found, but only by those wishing to spend more time trekking a little deeper into the forest.

The main attraction here is a 333-metre canopy walkway, with seven viewing platforms and suspended 27 metres off the ground.
